Dorothy's Cottage, built by William Trick, ca 1850
This designated 1850s cottage has been meticulously restored and is presently seeking a new owner. Located in a private enclave called Englishtown and built by a well known builder by the name of William Trick, this cottage is one of the most photographed homes in town. The private sunken garden at the rear along with an English perennial garden in the front delight the visitor. A pea-gravel terrace and pathways direct one to the reproduction garden shed surrounded by a wooden terrace. A dry stone wall, built by the Dry Stone Wall Association defines the garden plantings.
At street level, behind the intricate door case awaits a lovely living room with garden views. The charming bedroom has pine plank flooring and an adjacent four-piece bathroom.
The garden level consists of one large room with kichen at the north end and family room with built-in bookcases at the south end. The kitchen has a side-by-side refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher and a newly plumbed old enamel farm sink. The custom built country cupboards suit the space and dark stained pine floors complete the look. Two large glass terrace doors bring the outdoors indoors.
There is also a partial basement level with laundry area.
